This plugin implements the llms.txt standard, providing Markdown versions of your pages and an llms.txt sitemap for agents to use. It is designed to work on any static hosting service, so it does not rely on responding with Link headers or an Accept: text/markdown request header.

How it works

It converts the rendered HTML to Markdown, instead of republishing the source Markdown/MDX. That helps with custom components and non-Markdown pages: as long as the HTML produced by an .astro file is accessible, it should produce reasonable Markdown.

What you get

  • A .md version of every page, built alongside the HTML.
  • A View as Markdown footer link, so people can easily grab a page and feed it to an agent.
  • A <link rel="alternate" type="text/markdown"> in each page’s <head>, telling agents that read the HTML there is a better format available.
  • A /llms.txt index with basic guidance and a site map, grouped by your sidebar.
